Sunday January 29, 2012

Sunday we a great day to be out riding in San Diego County. I started from Poway rode to Mira Mesa to join my friend Dennis. Then we headed toward downtown. We made a short stop at Montgomery Field to watch a few planes take off and land. Then we went out Murray Ridge and […]

Grand Mesa

The Grand Mesa mountain ride to remember!

This is without a doubt the toughest ride I’ve ever done. The elevation shown on the Garmin is the start elevation. But more about that, later. I decide I wanted a real challenge so I would tackle the Grand Mesa. I originally planned to camp on the Mesa […]

Colorado National Monument

I started my ride by heading West to Fruita. It’s a pleasant little farming community which recently has gained a reputation almost equaling that of Moab as a mountain bike destination.

Bicycle Sculpture Fruita

I came upon this gentleman repairing a bicycle sculpture in the central park of Fruita. It’s made of tractor parts […]

Sunday September 18, 2011

I arrived in Grand Junction yesterday, and since I didn’t find a mirror in the bike shops I visited on the way down, I decided to go see what I can find. I didn’t realize that nearly everything is closed on Sunday here, especially bike shops.

Undeterred, I ride on.

Bicycle Apocolypse

I decided to attempt to use Google Maps to create a path to Colorado. I’m going to visit my dad in Clifton. I thought it might be a chance to scout some routes, in case I want to ride this way by bicycle. I got a little, well maybe a lot, off track North and […]

Bike the Bay August 28, 2011

The one time a year when bicyclists get to ride across the Coronado Bridge. These riders are anxious to get on the road.

Waiting for the word

Like many rides, the organizers let the riders go in waves to spread them out. For safety and to leave breaks, so other vehicles can maneuver through […]

Midnight Madness 2011

The 2011 version of Midnight Madness was just as much fun as any year. Last year I was lead-out, this year I was near the back. Before the ride, there are costume contests and “official” photographs are taken of the riders. I even got a few photos of my own. It’s a little tricky taking […]

Valley Center Ramble

I rode from Poway to Lake Hodges and then across to Escondido.  I took a left at Lilac Road and then another left at Old Castle Road. Then I turned left on Old 395 and rode south to Jesmond Dene Road. The I looped around eastern Escondido and back to the start in Poway.
